2008 – present, Research on Muslim Malay families and divorce in Singapore. 

2004-2007, Islam, ideology and religion: Muslims in Prison. 

2001-2003, fieldwork in Northern Ireland, on the local Muslim community (identity construction, cultural influences, religious modifications, concept of ummah, children’s education, Muslim associations, community organization, child-parent relationships, identity conflicts, women)

1999-2000, fieldwork in Italy (Pisa) on Muslim immigrant women and their daughters (private vs. public, family roles, women’s associations, diaspora, myth of return, female genital mutilation in immigration contexts, social relationships).

1998-1999, fieldwork in France (Paris and Lyon) on Algerian immigrants and second-generation Algerians (use of urban space, identity conflict, cultural expressions, music, gender, transnationalism, global and local dimensions).
